Your news talk has four parts.

| Мой друг сказа́л, что там о́чень интере́сно, и спроси́л, пойду́ ли я с ним. | My friend said it's very interesting there, and asked whether I'd go with him. |
| По-мо́ему, э́то отли́чная иде́я. | In my opinion, it's a great idea. |

Each breaks one rule: the tense stays, ли for yes-or-no, попроси́ть for requests, short forms agree, and откры́лся for things that open.
