Say the date
A date is an ordinal number and a month. Today is пе́рвое ма́я; on a day, it becomes пе́рвого ма́я.

| Сего́дня пе́рвое ма́я. | Today is the first of May. |
| Сего́дня двадца́тое ию́ня. | Today is the twentieth of June. |
The ordinal is an оно́ word (пе́рвое, второ́е, тре́тье, пя́тое, деся́тое), and the month takes the genitive: ма́я, ию́ня, января́.

On a date, the ordinal takes the genitive too: пя́того ма́я.
