How the course is going, from the answers you give: what is working, what to review, and what to change.
The numbers

What to review next
The questions you find hardest so far, with a link to the lesson that teaches each one.
How each number is calculated
| Metric | Definition | Formula, with an example | Target | Data source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Completion | Published pages you have finished | done pages ÷ published pages × 100. Example: 18 ÷ 40 = 45% | Rises every week | Progress record |
| On time | Pages finished by their scheduled day | finished on or before the day ÷ pages already due × 100. Example: 9 ÷ 10 = 90% | 85% or more | Progress record and the course start date |
| First-try pass rate | Questionnaires passed at the first attempt | passed first time ÷ questionnaires taken × 100. Example: 7 ÷ 10 = 70% | 70–85%. Above 90% is too easy; below 60% is too hard | Questionnaire attempts |
| Retention | Accuracy on questions from earlier lessons | right answers to earlier-lesson questions ÷ those answered × 100. Example: 16 ÷ 20 = 80% | 80% or more | Answer log |
| Question difficulty | For each question, how often the first answer is right | right first answers ÷ first answers. Example: 2 ÷ 5 = 0.40 | Review anything below 0.50 | Answer log |
| Homework turnaround | Time from sending homework to Екатери́на's review | review time − send time. Example: Tue 20:00 to Thu 09:00 = 37 hours | 48 hours or less | Homework records on the server |
| Writing volume | Words you write per week | words in written tasks and Your turn ÷ weeks with writing. Example: 180 ÷ 2 = 90 a week | 80 or more a week by Month 2 | Homework and lesson text fields |
| Self-assessment gap | Your “Can you do this now?” answers against your scores | % of lessons marked Yes − average first score, in points. Example: 100 − 70 = 30 | 15 points or fewer | Can-do buttons and questionnaires |
| Daily 10 habit | Days with a Daily 10 session in the last seven days | session days ÷ 5 study days × 100. Example: 4 ÷ 5 = 80% | 80% or more | Daily 10 record |
| Time balance | Planned minutes a week in each kind of practice | minutes in one kind ÷ total minutes. Example: 25 ÷ 395 = 6% for listening and reading | About 25% each | The course plan (fixed, not measured) |
Why, what and how
Why measure at all
Feeling busy and learning are not the same thing. These numbers show whether the work is turning into Russian you can use, early enough to change course while it is cheap to change.
What is recorded
Every answer to every exercise: whether it was right, and whether the question came from an earlier lesson. Also when you finish each page, your “Can you do this now?” answers, your Daily 10 cards, and the words you write. Nothing else: no trackers and no third parties. The record lives in your browser and, once your device is connected, in the course's private storage on Cloudflare, which only your key or Екатери́на's key can read.
How to act on it
- First-try pass rate above 90%: the course is too easy. Ask Екатери́на to push harder in class.
- First-try pass rate below 60%: slow down. Redo the class exercises before taking the questionnaire.
- Retention below 80%: do the Daily 10 on every study day, and redo the questions under What to review next.
- On time below 85%: the plan is too heavy for your weeks. Tell Екатери́на, and take one lesson a week for a while.
- Self-assessment gap above 15 points: trust the scores over the feeling, and redo the weakest lesson before moving on.
- For Екатери́на: open What to review next before each lesson. Those questions are the best five minutes of the class.
Honest limits
One learner's data is small: a single bad day can move a percentage, so read the trend over two or three weeks rather than a single number. And the time balance shows the plan's known weak spot: listening and reading for meaning are still well under a quarter of the week. The weekly story and the textbook audio help; extra listening on a free day, whenever you feel like it, helps most.
